Virtue and sin suffuse two releases in cinemas this week. One is a surprisingly fresh and apparently simple re-telling of the Cinderella fairy tale and the other a spirited rampage through the dark pleasures of revenge, served hot and steaming. Let’s start with the dodgy stuff. Wild Tales is an Argentinian film, a portmanteau feature of six apparently unrelated stories, all set in the present. If characters, situation and mood vary, then they are linked by an overarching theme – an individual striving to get even by getting mad. This does not necessarily involve violence (although it often does).
