It would be a brave man, or woman, who dared to criticise the brain-fest that ended last week after proceeding in daily instalments on Radio 4 for the past three months. Each week began with a customarily suave Lord Bragg (“Predetermined or providential?”) and a panel of helpers raptly discussing a big idea, whereupon individual members of the team were sent off to present programmes of their own devising.
