But according to Britain’s Benefit Tenants (12 June), two ­million people now struggle to pay their rent, which means eviction is always waiting in the wings. Grinding poverty, though, provides its own business opportunities. A new breed of letting agent specialises in getting claimants and the intermittently insolvent into homes – and, when necessary, out of homes. Here we followed two busy firms.
