With BBC3 headed for oblivion – or the internet, which might be the same thing – this was a good week to see what the ­channel’s young TV audience will be losing. Repeats, is the short answer, and lots of American cartoons. Then there are shows about clothes and make-up, with titles like Snog, Marry, Avoid?. This week Hair ­continued: it’s a competition to find the nation’s best amateur hairdresser. It’s all terribly ­unoriginal, but it features ordinary provincial kids of the sort you otherwise don’t see on TV. More interesting are the channel’s own ­dramas and sitcoms, with which it has had considerable success over its 11-year lifespan.
