The daring Israeli commando assault on Entebbe airport in 1976 saved more than a hundred people held hostage after an Air France passenger jet was hijacked en route from Tel Aviv to Paris. Such was its impact that within a year two movies dramatising the events had appeared, Raid on Entebbe and Victory at Entebbe. José Padilha’s film, even with the hindsight of 40 years and more, is cock-eyed and tin-eared – more like Hell of a Muddle at Entebbe.
