Newspaper movies are now old-fashioned creatures – dinosaurs, even – so it is reassuring to have Steven Spielberg in charge of The Post. This is the director at his least flashy, but at a moment when press integrity is under attack and “fake news” is the blowhard’s battle cry it may be the most timely film he has ever made.
