Last orders: demise of the Anglican Religious



With a punning title, this feature on the plight of Anglican religious communities (21 July) was both irresistible and inaccurate. It was not, we were swiftly assured, that there were no monks and nuns left, merely that their number was reducing year on year. “There’s just me here now,” revealed 85-year-old Sr Giovanna. “Mother Hilary’s in a home.”
