The Imperial War Museum was founded in 1917 during the First World War; within a generation, the Second World War had broken out. The “war to end war” did not end it. What it did was mobilise a vocal minority in defence of peace, sparking a protest movement whose history forms the subject of the IWM’s centenary exhibition.
